Restoration of Local Chapel at Royal Victory Country Park
In 2015 Hampshire County Council secured Heritage Lottery Funding to undertake extensive conservation, alterations and new build works to the Grade II Listed Chapel at Royal Victory Country Park, Netley.
The Royal Victoria Hospital was opened by Queen Victoria in 1863 and became the world’s largest military hospital. The Chapel is all that remains of the hospital following years of neglect and a fire in 1966 which resulted in the hospital being demolished.
